Marek graduated from Secondary School of Applied Arts and studies at Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. He worked as an animator for a world-known Prague film studio „Bratři v triku“, he illustrated several books. Marek is also the founder of a rock band called „Nahoru po schodišti dolů“ (NPSD) (inspired by the novel of Bel Kaufman „Up the Down Staircase“)(1983-2005). In the 90's he engaged primarily in art activities (animated commercials, applied graphics) and journalism (editor of AudioVideo Revue).

Besides being the dramaturg of a Prague club Carpe Diem (production of musical evenings and art exhibitions), Marek dedicates himself almost exclusively to painting.
